Let's Get It On- Marvin Gaye

Wonderful Tonight- God

Wicked Game- Chris Isaak

lisarea, I also find Hallelujah rather hot, and it was definitely disturbing finding it in Shrek.

"Wicked Game" - Chris Isaak...

"Save a Prayer" - Duran Duran (!)

A lot of Sade... and, depending on the mood, "Nevermind" by Nirvana....

I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I actually came home and pulled the song out to listen to it, halfway convinced that I'd somehow misinterpreted the whole thing. Of course, I had not. I don't remember if they actually played the "remember when I moved in you" lines and stuff in the movie, but it's probably on the soundtrack.

Overall, too, I have to admit I dislike it when particularly hot songs become popular enough that you're likely to run into them in the course of daily activities.

I'm no Ron Jeremy, to be sure. Not one to "blow my own horn," if you're picking up what I'm putting down. But, as many of you are no doubt aware, I'm a pillar of my fucking community. And all too often these days, I find myself in a situation like being in the grocery store, doing my marketing and dispensing my helpful and matronly moral guidance, a la Mary Worth, to the local youth, when, say, "Closer" comes onto the piped in muzak station, and before the first instance of the fuck word, I'm contorting myself against the meat case trying to get a good angle on it, while simultaneously digging around the ground beef chubbies for one that's still a little frozen.

And you know, that just ain't right.

Fred Schnieder & The Shake Society song "Monster"

"There's a monster in my pants/And he likes to jump and dance/ When he comes into the room/People hit it with a broom

[chorus] Oh no monster, Oh no monster..."

Sugar Walls, Sheena Easton

Where I came from there's a place called heaven
That's the place where all the good children go
The houses are of silver, the streets are gold
But there's more where you come from, my sugar walls

Blood races to your private spots, that lets me know there's a fire
You can't fight passion when passion is hot
Temperatures rise inside my sugar walls

Chorus:
Lemme take you somewhere you've never been
I could show you things you've never seen
I could make you never wanna fall in love again
Come spend the night inside my sugar walls

Take advantage, it's alright

I feel so alive when I'm with you
Come and feel my presence, it's reigning tonight
Heaven on earth inside my sugar walls

chorus

I can tell you want me, it's impossible to hide
Your body's on fire, admit it! Come inside
Come inside my sugar walls
Come spend the night inside my sugar walls

I completely agree that there is a lot of overlap. It's the in-the-dark tension, possessiveness, and need. Real passion is dangerous.

I'll definitely agree with "Wicked Game".

"Try a Little Tenderness", Otis Redding

"Let's Get it On," Marvin Gaye

"Can't Get Enough of Your Love," Barry White

"Wrap Your Arms Around Me," Barenaked Ladies

"Givin' Him Something He Can Feel," En Vogue

"Your Eyes," Peter Gabriel

"Hurts to Love You," Philosopher Kings

They featured the John Cale version of Hallelujah in Shrek. I liked it, but it doesn't compare to what Jeff Buckley did with the song. I find his interpretation more angry and sad than sexy, although the sad part is probably the thought that someone who made such magnificent music died too soon.

Norah Jones is my favorite. In particular my favorite would be "Turn Me On". Also "Butterflies" has a sexy groove to it.

I'm apparently bound and determined to hijack this thread for that one song. Sorry bout that.

Anyway, it was clearly a sexy song before he died. His first recorded version--I forget the album name--was definitely on the hot side, and his having been a little hottie definitely made it a sexy song when I saw it live.

However, the medley with I Know It's Over on the posthumously released Mystery Whiteboy CD is definitely tinged with sadness, in part because of the fact that he did die so young, combined with added lyrics such as "Oh mother I feel the dirt falling over my head."

Overall, it's a very strange and dynamic song. There seem to be a million wildly different versions of it., each one playing up different aspects. It's brilliant, IMO, and that's kind of hot in its own rite.
