We've heard from the creepy contingent, so let's hear from the wild and passionate side now. What songs leave you feeling most in need of a cold shower...or if the opportunity is there, compel you to scoop up your sweet thing and go loping for the bedroom?
I'd have to say Patti Smith's Gloria is near the top of my list -- sweet jebus, that is one scorching song. I'm not at all concerned about my kids listening to that 'urban contemporary' noise where every other word is "fuck", but if I ever hear them put on the Horses album, I'm charging into their rooms with a chokechain and a bucket of icewater. Or at least a long lecture about contraception. I'd also put Springsteen's I'm on fire right up there, too. What a lovely slow ache that one is. |

It's hard to argue with Patti Smith's Gloria . Good call, pz. Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing definitely makes my list as well.
OTOH, I never really got the Barry White thing. His songs mildly creep me out. I think it's his voice, which I imagine would be the voice one might hear in the prison shower room moments before everything goes horribly wrong. |

For some reason, Leonard Cohen's The Future album gets to me. Listening to Ella gets the engine revving as well. |

I fail to understand why anyone has bothered to try to write a love song since Elvis Costello's "I'll Wear it Proudly," on King of America. It's probably his only real, straight love sans murder suicide song (that he wrote), and he nailed it.
It's like when Milton wrote Lycidas and made all pastoral elegies to follow stupid and redundant. That said, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is incredibly hot, too. I saw Jeff Buckley cover this shortly before he died. Sure didn't hurt that Jeff Buckley was adorable, and it was in a tiny, dark, smoky little club. Note: I took a friend's kid to see Shrek when it came out, and was deeply disturbed when this song was in it. What an discomforting mix. |

Well, in all fairness to the creepy folks, there was a little musical wild passion going on recently in this thread. But hell, I didn't post to it then so I might as well take the opportunity now.
Nine Inch Nails' Closer is pantingly hot. That up-against-an-alley-wall bassline, the murmured depravity, and yes, the "I want to fuck you like an animal" refrain never fails to turn my blood molten. Also on the makes me feel kinda funny list is Sinead O'Connor's I Want Your (Hands on Me) and Bono's version of Porter's Night and Day (which could probably fit just as well in the creepy category, truth be told). |

I think we had a similar thread to this just a short while about, but I'll post my favorite sexiest songs again anyhoo:
"Glory Box" by Portishead (her voice combined with the slow beat of the song is sexy as hell) "Crush" and "Lover Lay Down" by the Dave Matthews Band "Without You I'm Nothing" by Placebo (not a traditional choice but I think it's sexy...it's got a debauched quality to it that I quite enjoy) "Everybody Knows" by Leonard Cohen (another non-traditional choice considering his extensive body of work but I really dug the fact that it was the song Mia Kirshner stripped to in the movie Exotica) "My Lover" by Melissa Etheridge "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison "Overcome" by Tricky (first heard it on the soundtrack to Strange Days...it's similar to "Glory Box" in style.) |

Further, I'd venture to draw a Venn diagram showing a disturbingly large overlapping area between 'sexy' and 'creepy.' Depraved, repressed, or a little of both? |

Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game". Hell, half of Chris Isaak's library.
Dido's "I'm No Angel" Sarah McLachlan's "Good Enough" or "Possession" And I know it's corny, but "Love Song" by the Cure. That's more about love than sex for me though. |
