In and Out: It seemed so hypocritical. 90% of the movie concerns the main character insisting that despite the fact that he has some stereotypically "gay" characteristics, he's not gay. Then, guess what? He decides he's gay after all!

So, I guess the take-home message is that stereotypes are perfectly valid?

I'll second The Meaning of Life. I loved Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but couldn't stand either The Meaning of Life or The Life of Brian. Neither struck me as being at all funny. [Well, okay, the "Romans go home" bit was funny, and so was "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," but otherwise . . . ]

Cheers,

Michael

My favorite bad movie is No Retreat, No Surrender, the Karate-Kid rip-off with a young Jean-Claude van Damme as the 'final boss' bad guy. I can close my eyes and go through every stupid thing in that movie in order (I think there are about 300).

Coming close is Ghost Dad, which, in its first 20 minutes, delivers more "mugging" from Bill Cosby than is legal under current UN resolutions.

Less pleasant:

The Prophecy (John Frankenheimer) - an environmental disaster movie, or, more simply, a disaster.

Fire, Ice, and Dynamite - eccentric quabwillionaire Roger Moore fakes his own death and stages a contest, with his personal fortune as the grand prize: the MEGA-THON!

The Wizard of Gore - H. G. Lewis of Bloodfeast fame terrifies you with the story of an evil magician who spends 20 minutes fastening his victims to a lethal device, and then spends another 20 minutes fastening the other side.

Jawbreaker - snotty popular girl clique murder movie; featuring the line, "Time doesn't change things, people do".

Goodburger - delivers exactly what you'd expect.

Batman and Robin - somehow sucks the fun out of Arnold Schwarzenegger punning (see Commando, The Running Man).

Desert Warrior - Lou Ferrigno.

Little Bigfoot, God Told Me To, She-Devil,...

John Ritter turned down Problem Child 3 and Charles Grodin turned down Beethoven's 3rd; that doesn't bode well. When Clint Howard turns down a movie, we're in trouble.

I've only seen fifteen minutes of Whoopi Goldberg in Theodore Rex -- "The world's toughest cop is getting a brand new partner. He's a real blast from the past!" Yes, he's a dinosaur. Why is she allowed to host the Oscars?

And I'd like to add that the movie Heavyweights, though a fat-kids camp movie, is quite watchable. Also, at one point, a fat kid can be seen wearing a "Ride the Lightning" T-shirt.

OH man I'd forgotten about that movie. Wasn't it about how mercury in the water made gigantic monsters out of the forest creatures? It was a pretty silly movie.

I watched it with some friends and we got some quality laughs out of it.

We went camping the next day and were making constant jokes about being atttacked by the "mercury bear."

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
I must disagree, its a pretty decent film, even though its good to only watch it once.

whaaaat? Worst movie ever??? I mean I can see how it is average but its kind of a stretch to call it the worst.

I would have to say the last part of AI aloong with Armagedon. Oh, Deep Blue Sea was also bad, but I have to give them credit for surprising me by killing one of the star actors first.

I'm special like that, I guess.
You can't be too special, because I really liked it, too. I didn't think the ending was saccharine at all -- it was really rather grim and cynical.

With Talia Shire, no less!

Any movie by Jerry Bruckheimer

Gone in 60 Seconds

The Beach

Road to Perdition

The Good Girl

I saw those four in theaters and they're so forgettable that somedays I can barely recall their names.

The Prophecy, with Talia Shire and Robert Foxworth! Ugh, I had forgotten about that piece of crap. I saw it at a drive-in, I believe.

No one's mentioned Duckman.

The Bodyguard.

But perhaps my all-time most hated movie is Ghost.

I actually liked Ghost but felt that Truly Madly Deeply covered the same ground more effectively.
