Holy crap! Thanks for the tip, I just tuned in to CNN. They're showing some debris burning and falling. Shit!

Jesus, Zeus, and Odin!
TV cameras in Texas have images that look like something breaking up and burning at around 200,000ft. It can't be anything other than the shuttle, in my mind... CRAP! |

Damn it. Twice in my lifetime... this is all so wrong.
Now the media is tying in the Israeli astronaut onboard to possible terrorist plots -- wtf. |

I know. It reminds me of the conspiracy theorists after 9-11, about a supposed Jewish connection... Let's forget about speculations and try to understand what just happened. I am really sad at what I'm seeing.
I recall that Feynmann was involved with the investigation of the Challenger mission. We could really use his no-nonesense approach right now. You know, if NASA allowed that N*SYNC guy to go into space, he could've been part of that mission. Sorry for rambling. I'm just thinking several thoughts at the same time. |

Actually, a terrorist plot is one of the first things I thought of. The shuttle is a high-vis target, and tied to our national pride.
However, it's damn near impossible to hit something that high and that fast with a missile, and I can't imagine anyone getting a bomb aboard, given all the payload checks they do. I'm sure some terrorists are going to try to take credit, or at least claim that Allah did it, but I'm betting it is a simple accident. |

And first reports have it that the Shuttle has crashed in Palestine! Well, there is no possible way that could have been planned by terrorists. But the coincidence numbs the mind. I am deeply saddened. Will Islamic militants use this as "God's Will".

No someone called CNN from Palestine, Texas. Ironically enough.
BTW Is there really a place called North Babylon, NY? |

To tell the truth, I had forgotten about the Isareli astronaut. It'd seem awfully neglectful of NASA if they didn't triple/quadruple security.
Latest rumours has it that a foam plate that was used for insulation came off during pre-launch. But NASA gave the OK anyway for the launch. Shit. NASA took a huge hit from Challenger. This one might just shut down the program, I am afraid. |

Yes, North Babylon is on the south shore of Long Island. In fact, Jessica Hahn, the Jim Bakker bimbo, was from West Babylon. I guess you might relate her to the biblical "Whore of Babylon".
