Post Sanity links

For those of you needing to read something sane about the pledge fracas, here are some links that might be of interest:

<a href="http://commondreams.org/views02/0628-06.htm" target="_blank">Rethinking the Pledge</a>

This link includes a thoughtful commentary on Bush's innaug. address (ripe with irony, but I keep forgetting that irony is dead in post 9-11 Amerka) by a clergyman who's smart enough to recognize the beauty of the wall of seperation.

<a href="http://www.ucc.org/ucnews/feb01/current.htm" target="_blank">United Church News article</a>

And finally, here's what one methodist is saying about the pledge mess:

<a href="http://umns.umc.org/02/june/278.htm" target="_blank">UMNS article</a>

His heart's in the right place, but he still doesn't get it.

&lt;all of the links above were sent to me by a friend who's a chaplain&gt;

Finally, don't miss the article that Alex Moon recommended in his post, from the Nation:

<a href="http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=scheer&s=20020702" target="_blank">Nation article</a>

OK, and one more. I was reading Ambrose Bierce's<a href="http://www.alcyone.com/max/lit/devils/f.html" target="_blank">The Devil's Dictionary</a> on the walk to work today (the Dover classics fiberware version is only a buck, and portable. It's a good reminder that the current puddleheadedness is really just the status quo.
