Additionally the "V" character is the latin transliteration of a terminal sigma (which is why it doesn't show up as ihsous)

They spend all this time trying to convert us to their One True Religion, and they can't even agree on their founder's NAME? Geeze.

I suggest the use of Unicode for Hebrew, just like the Greek is in Unicode.

What's the most popular transliteration scheme for Hebrew?

Are there any transliteration -> Unicode converters for Hebrew?

best,
Peter Kirby

Here is a pretty good website for Hebrew Unicode which includes accents:

I would say probably the Michigan-Claremont encoding system:

The only thing I have been able to find so far is the "Yiddish Typewriter", but since I don't recognize the encoding scheme, it is hard to get the results I am looking for.

Hey, Peter. We might have to think about making our own C encoder for Hebrew unicode. Do you know how to interface with a C program via the web using CGI (or whatever)?

Why on earth would you use C?

'Cause I know C! What's wrong with C?! I work closely with hardware, so C/asm are my tools of choice. I'm not real up on JavaScript/Perl/etc.

From taking a closer look at some of the sites, though, it looks like JavaScript might be a good choice for writing a conversion routine. I may try it...

Isn't it all kind of moot anyway? I mean, according to prophecy, his name was supposed to be Immanuel.
