Maybe they thought it is just another African country with beautiful sceneries, wildlives etc, you know ... the word "Exotic".
I guess they didn't expect the "wildlives" down there to be so ... "annoying". |

Maybe Saudi Arabia ...
I bet that will be the LAST pagent ever held anywhere IF they held it in Saudi Arabia, since the punishments such as stoning and chopping things up do come to my mind, especially when the girls starts to run around in their bathing suits. I believe last year was held in Thailand ... if not mistaken. Maybe the sponsors taught if Thailand (with Buddhism that seems to be strict with this sort of things) can allow such pagents, the so-called "peaceful" Islam could also. |

According to another thread, the current Miss World is Nigerian, so the next contest gets held in her country.
Kind of like the Eurovision Song Contest, where the winners host it next year. Anyway, I think beauty contests are silly, I think all religion is silly at best and I think 215 deaths for this reason is tragic. |

I hear now that it’s been shifted to Britain they can’t get sponsorship.
Someone or other likened the pageant to a toxic waste shipment which no one wanted … |

215 people died not because of beauty pagent alone, they died because one person's mouth and a group of fools' narrow mindness.
The person (the one came out with the article) stated that prophet Muhammad could approve such shows and he could marry one of the contestant if he was alive today, thus caused strife when narrow-minded Muslims took this as an insult to Muhammad and Islam (especially since the author was a Christian). In such context ... should we pity them? I don't know about you guys, but they (those who died and those who are fighting and suffering) don't deserve my pity. PS : I thought the last year Ms. U is a Thailand girl. And Yes, Beauty Pagents are stupid since the contestants are nothing more than bunch of girls showing off their hardward and their so-called intellect. India held one of the most number of Ms. U and run-ups but I yet to see any of them doing anything to improve situations to the locals there. |
