Oil and caprock
Do any of you old hands at this E/C business know of a specific place on the net where the claim is made that reservoir caprock is so permeable that oil couldn't remain trapped for "evolutionary" timescales? I've poked around AiG and TalkOrigins, but haven't found that specifically. I'd like to try my hand at a debunking, if there's not one already out there. Thanks.

I don't know of such a claim but the fundies are a constant suprise. Perhaps they claim this because not all salt domes contain oil in the caprock. I can think of at least one example close to home. The oil there is trapped on the flanks of the dome instead. Anyway, good luck. |
