Argument From Repeated Biblical Phrases
I hope this is the right place for this thread...
Anyway, I think I just made up a new theistic argument this evening. I went to church w/ my girlfriend when the preacher said something that caught my attention. Here goes, the next addition to Dave's collection. 1. The entire protestant Bible contains the partial phrase "...fear not..." 365 times total. 2. There are 365 days in a year. 3. God works yearly (all the time). 4. Therefore, God exists. Geez it's late. |

3.50 A year isn't exactly 365 days, but we know what the deity meant.
3.60 Yes, the deity could have made it even clearer by accounting for the difference, so what? 3.70 Yes, he could have written it plainly but that would deny us a chance to play cryptographer! 3.75 Yes, we know that numerology is a condemned form of divination. 3.76 But we can't resist, just this once. 3.77 And besides, what other explanation could there be? 3.9 No, the deity would make sure not to use that phrase just enough times to coincide with the number of days in a year because then we might mistake it for a message from beyond. 3.93 Err, ok he made sure his scribes on earth didn't do that. 3.94 Uuum, he canceled their free wills temporarily only, and he paid them back later. 3.97 Ask me another question, and consider yourself hellbound. 3.99 Good, I knew you would see the light. 4. Therefore, God exists. [ December 01, 2002: Message edited by: Bible Humper ]</p> |

Evil Milkman
Were those numbers based on the Julian or Gregorian calendars...or just the number of times that the sun rotated around the earth when those scriptures were produced? However, all those "fear nots" are trumped by Exodus 20:5; Deut. 5:9; and Chief Justice Roy Moore's two ton icon in the Alabama Judicial Building rotunda foyer. "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children into the third and fouth generation of them that hate me;" And this is the Judeo-Christian God of love and tolerance? Well, I guess for those who believe that jealousy is a sign of love, he is the the Christian Big Kahuna. |

24 cans in a case. 24 hours in a day.
Coincidence? I think not! Someone had to say it. |

There are 5 workdays in most folk's week. We have 5 fingers on our hands, which were meant for working with in the first place.
