Oops, sorry! Did not intend to start a new thread. Should be under 'gods and atheists are inevitable'.

what the heck...no point wasting such a precious space.
Monotheism is a relatively new invention. Every known civilization that has come to existence started with primitive religion called animism, which later progressed into animalism, polytheism and then monotheism. Of course there are other "ism" which I conveniently left out. Is there a trend in religions march from animism to monotheism. My mind (?) seems to be noticing a pattern. Animism and Animalism has by far the most number of gods. Just think about it, if every animals were god there'd be about an infinite number of gods. and that's not counting the trees and skies, which they also considered as gods. Polytheism, the next in line, has fewer gods, but still quite a number. The Greeks are said to have... well, plenty. There's Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Athena, who's that babe again. (It would have been easier if I use Roman myth as example, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and so on.) Then came Zoroaster: two gods and then monotheism : one god. The pattern to me seems be what I like to call The Great Deduction Will it ever go further? Hopefully, or maybe in reaching the one god, we have reach a plateau...most men will no longer go further than that. |
