Neither, actually. While I'm not familiar with the relevant statistics, your statement was, "This explains why only very stupid (uneducated, etc) people perform crimes."

Unless you meant that the act of performing a crime itself makes you stupid (which I might agree with for some crimes), I find that statement a bit outrageous.

Since I personally dislike prejudiced statements and generalizations, I was surprised that no one among this enlightened community objected to it in 3 pages of posts. If it had been "This explains why only black people perform crimes" I'd bet $50 on a strong reaction from most everyone.

Is there no one to stand up for our stupid, uneducated friends? Sure, some of them may try to convert us, but

Disclaimer: this and the previous post by myself were intended in a tongue-in-cheek fashion and were not meant to strawman (or woman) any arguments or offend stupid, uneducated people.

Damit!

I wish someone would invent a written language which can convey suchlike humor better! After the fact I see what you ment, and appologize.

Just to clarify, I do think that it takes a certain level of stupidity to commit crimes. There are cases where one is done by accedent, or out of absolute need, but simple senseless crimes are often done for no real reason. Lacking reason makes the crime senseless, or in less PC terms stupid.

Of course, there may be good reasons for the crime in the mind of the criminal (feeding a drug habbit, or a sex habbit), that doesnt change the fact that they are ignorant (willingly or not) of the effects of their crime.

Hopefully that clears up any chance of my comment comming across as a causation falacy.
