Another new (offensive) line for the Pledge
I've been trying to think of other ideas for altering the Pledge of Allegience to illustrate the problem with its current incarnation.
As most of the uproar centers on two lines of reasoning: Majority Rule and Founding Fathers = theists/deists A similar line of reasoning could result in: One white nation, under God... The majority of Americans are white as were all of the founding fathers. Again (as with my last post) I've tried to stay away from a religious addition and the result is this obviously offensive addition. If this Pledge existed, and a non-white person complained, could you ever imagine the government and the populace attacking the non-white Americans with epithets like "whiny, un-American Socialists"? I'm sorry if this idea has been posted in the past. With so many posts to read, I've been skimming. ADAM |

I think you're on to something here. You make a good point and this helps illustrate how offensive and backwards the majority of the population has been acting on the Pledge issue. I see nothing wrong with equating their attitudes towards atheists with those displayed by white supremacists towards other races. It is unfortunate, yet accurate, that sometimes you must offend people to get their attention and make them actually think about the idiotic statements they are making.

One white nation, under God...
The majority of the nation is Christian too. So it could be: "One white nation, under Jesus..." We all know thats what the McCarTheists mean anyways.. And after all, it doesn't specify which sect.. so it doesn't establish a specific religion.. richard |

If you are looking for the words that the zealous Christians would like to see included in our Constitution, as well as every other government item, read the informtion about "The Previous Attempts" here:

Let's make it "one white, English-speaking nation under our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

If we're supposed to stay true to the Founding Fathers' vision for our nation, where are the conservatives trying to send African-Americans back to the plantations? Or taking away the voting rights of women and renters?
