I don't know... but you can access it as a http server from programs such as outlook express. (So you can treat it in Windows as if it is a normal pop3 account)

Yeah... I get about 20 bits of spam a day...

My Yahoo account receives far fewer ones, so it's ok. There was free pop3 access, but they started charging people for it ($ 19+ a year I think) over a year ago.
Yeah I've heard about yahoo being better as far as spam goes - I think they automatically filter out emails that have been sent to lots of users. It's a pity they charge for it now...

I have Yahoo and get very little spam and what I do get they make it easy to report and filter. To be clear, the Yahoo account itself is free, being able to POP it is what the charge is for. I access it thru my web browser.

Is that like viewing a webpage through MS Outlook (it's basically like using IE inside Outlook)? Or is it like pop3 (where you can send/receive the messages straight to and from the server without going through a web browser), but with a different protocol? I don't use Outlook Express.

The second one - it's just a different protocol. It has a folder called "hotmail" rather than it being in "local folders". I move my messages from hotmail into the local folder every now and then because hotmail deletes my messages after a couple of months. I've actually got two hotmail account folders there - I call the other one "Hotmail 2". The second address is really obscure and I try not to let potential spammers know about it. If hotmail is your default account in outlook then when you click on a mailto link in internet explorer it brings up a new email thing with hotmail as the sending address.

whatever you do, do NOT click on the thank_you.pif file... .pif files run scripts, and well, just don't. bad idea.

Download Hotmail Popper. It gives you free pop3 access to a hotmail account. You can't send with it and it does not count as logging in for the inactivity timer--if it's *ALL* you use you'll find your account deleted for inactivity.

Some of these things take advantage of a well-known exploit in Outlook (Express) and will execute merely by reading the message or previewing it. Basically, if you have off-the-shelf Outlook and no antivirus installed or on your mail proxy, you'll get infected eventually.

I have received over 70 emails from it today (none get through as I run NAV and update it daily) on my own machine, and the most I ever saw from SirCam and the first SoBig was about 10. It's being called the worst, fastest-spreading internet worm ever.

Symantec's page on it

If you think you might be infected (and you should check this no matter what if you don't use antivirus software) in Windows XP/2000/NT, just hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete, click Task Manager, then Processes and look for a process called Winppr32.exe. If it is there, you are infected. Get the removal tool from the Symantec page (free) and follow the directions.

Well, it seems that the failed delivery messages have stopped.

One question: Will I still be punished for using 13375p34k in my previous post? If so, what is the punishment?

Default E-mail Terrorists

Jonathan, i had 2 of those yesterday. But since last week i'm only opening mail in the preview pane. lots of junk last 2 days but i delete it without opening...
Also i have god view all my e-mails and he's told me that i'm clean as a virgin. Prayer is helpful in stopping the E-mail terrorists. A Crusifix on your monitor lets Jesis know you are saved and not to mess with your E-mail ...no Daemons! Also:

it helps to have NORTON check things out before cod does and a Fire Wall to boot... like i do

i get lots of attacks, average one a day. SoBig came by twice and BugBear but otherwise the rest are 32klez.
