Yet another RC outrage
I heard about symphysiotomies for the first time at the weekend: a procedure carried out by Roman Catholic doctors in Ireland on women who should have been given a caesarean. The doctors feared that because it is only possible (or advisable) for a women to have three caesareans, those who couldn’t give birth naturally would be tempted, eventually, to prevent conception by using contraceptives.
To save them from this grave sin, the doctors therefore carried out symphysiotomies, which involved sawing through the pelvis so that it could open as though hinged. They carried it out on women under a local anaesthetic without telling them what they were doing – the women being strapped down to the operating table. It crippled them and made them incontinent, and effectively turned them into baby machines. It is another horrendous example of a criminal act carried out in the name of religion. I wish a slow, painful death on anyone involved in these operations.

I feel so sick, those poor violated women I know it can be a backward country at times but that's one of the worst things I've heard of yet.
If ever a country was in dire need of state/church separation Ireland is it. I wonder if sterillisation is still illegal??? I know it was previously along with abortion which forced a 14 year old rape victim to flee to London for a termination which the Irish government tried to stop back in the 90's. Even though she said she would kill herself if forced to go through with the pregnancy they still tried to stop her. Glad to say after much pressure they backed off and the girl was left alone. But how dare they try to tell their citizens what they could and couldn't do in another country??? |

*Enai runs to the toilet and pukes*
These people call themselves doctors? As in physician? They deserve no such air of trustworthiness! Just unbelievable. |

I am not denying that this is a nightmare of the utmost proportions... but the Irish are not the wisest or noblest of the Catholics.
I went to a Catholic high school, and the differences between the 'irish catholic' and the 'italian catholic' are incredible. Please realize that. we used to joke it was because the italians had to raise the pope's bastards for millenia... other than that, I hope those butchers are destroyed in the worst possible way. must go vomit. And I didn't read the story. |
