alli,
You could try...... http://www.tricycle.com or..... http://www.buddhanet.net Tricycle has some good general information plus Bulletin Boards for discussion.......you may find that Buddhists in a lot of ways resemble the general population.....some more compassionate than others!! (Some smokers or whatever!) According to Buddhist teaching there are 84,000 dharma gates (give or take a few) and its good to find our own "path with heart"............as the Zen Master said....."see that bamboo, how long it is....see that bamboo, how short it is....that is their nature." There are plenty of other web links but you should find them yourself if you trawl through the others. Happy hunting..... [ August 12, 2001: Message edited by: kalamasutta ] |

I am glad to note that there are a significant number of Buddhists here, but are there any Taoists?
I don't want to be all alone... |

I'm a confucian/taoist/buddhist.
What kind of taoist are you ? Lao Zi, Zhuang Zi, Huang Lao, Wu Dou Mi, Chuan Zhen Jiao(there are maybe a few hundred more but these are the ones I can remember for now) ? |

Since you're using the Zi instead of Tzu i'll write Daoism in my posts from now on. Thanks for responding. Would you mind answering your own question? |

I'm brought up with knowledge on Taoistic rites (Taoism as a religion) as my parents are Taoists. The deities they venerate would be ones you never heard of so I won't go into them.
Read a few books on Taoism & got to know its history if you want I could try to translate it for you but I need to get the book first. As to what kind of Taoist I am, sorry to say its part of me (likewise for confucianism & buddhism) but I'm a truly free free thinker or non-believer. I have the knowledge but not truly one. BTW Taoistic Alchemy have the believe that it could led one into immortality plus the ability to have sex with a 100 women in one night. Want to know more about how to practice it ? PS Tao is the correct way to spell Taoism. If you use Dao then you have to write "Dao Jiao" or "Dao Jia" for correct use of chinese pingying. Edited wrong spellings & added PS.
