But if you read the aircar site, which is probably overly optimistic, you'd need to fill a 90 Liter container to a pressure of &gt; 4,300 psi, for 10 hours of stop and go traffic. I can use a free air hose to pump up a tire from 25 psi to 35 psi in about 45 seconds. I wonder how long I'd be waiting for it to get to 4000 psi...

That's not a problem. Instead of one 90litre tank get 90 1 litre tanks, then they will all fill up at the same time. Alternatively, just get a disabled sticker and the attendant will do it for you.

That'll work but it's much simpler to just run the car with an electric motor powered by batteries and put a generator on the motor to keep the batteries charged.
