More Taboo Science
Any opinions/thoughts/links on the issues of rape as an evolutionary strategy and objective, biological standards of female physical attractiveness (for example, the hip-waist ratio)?
I remember seeing a program on TLC that discussed the latter, but im having a hard time finding scholarly research on it. Note: These are two different issues im interested in here. Im not trying to link rape to biological standards of beauty. -GFA |

http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/biology...ekanayake.html http://evolution.massey.ac.nz/emural/whr1.html I included that last one since it includes material on objective, biological factors of male physical attractiveness as well, seeing how females are at least equal selectors of sexual mates in our species (except in cases of rape). |

You might want to check out Thornhill and Palmer's review of Evolution, Gender, and Rape (2003), which is a collection of essays critical of Thornhill and Palmer's book, A Natural History of Rape (2000).
