It has come to my attention that Ganesh has posted this same thread-starter on several boards as a "social experiment".

In order to differentiate ourselves from all those other boards, I say we either abandon or thoroughly derail this thread.

Not that I'm criticising the concept. I recognize it as both elegant and high-minded, as are most of the elephant's enormous piles of.... er... most of Ganesh's posts.
