Wow! I thought I was the only one to view the world through truly demented glasses. What sorts of truly demented things has your glasses repair allowed you to see now?!

Cool

Yep, people with good eyesight just don't realize how lucky they are. They also don't realize how incredibly fucking important our glasses are to those of us with really bad eyesight.

I've already told you guys about the woman in the opera chorus (amateur) that chewed my ass every time she saw me about my glasses like she had never seen anyone who had to wear them all the time, in her entire life. She was NOT the director.

It was asinine and juvenile. I had to wear my coke bottles on stage so I wouldn't fall off and sue their little 5o1(c)3 non-profit out of existence.

They never called me back after that production, which is OK. The bitch even asked me why I didn't spend the money for LASIK. I should have asked her to pony up the 5K it cost back then if it bothered her so much.

I should have told her how lucky I was to have healthy eyes unlike my mother, who was blind from macular degeneration in her old age, at the time (1999).

I got new glasses recently, and new contacts as well so I'm bifocal in plastic eyeballs [yesss!!!] and the doc told me I could not do laser eye slicing anyway as I have a subclinical keratoconus (pointy cornea). By the time I got some sturdy frames with spring hinges, lightweight plastic, progressive bifocals and polished edges, the bill was a bit over $400 at Lenscrafters and my insurance paid all but $133.00 of it.

I wear coke bottles, my BF is incredibly farsighted, and he wears goldfish bowls. We take em off to kiss anyway, so it doesn't really matter. People are so damned superficial.

Oh, and prescription shades are one of the GREAT inventions of the 20th century. If it wasn't for prescription shades, I couldn't see to drive down here in Texas, since the sun is blindingly bright all year round.

I sympathize, dude.
