Talking Let us make a journey to the cave of monsters!

I think it's just as likely that playing GTA turns kids into violent criminals as playing Bubble Bobble turns kids into dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs that blow bubbles.

And the SNES was the best motherfucking game system, ever. Period.

"And dammit, the SNES and Genesis were the golden age...For those of us who favor RPG's, anyway."

although Final Fantasy 6 was amazing (SNES right?) the playstation and corresponding computer time had more great RPGs I think. FF7, Xenogears, Baldurs Gate

yada yada

GTAVC kicks ass! They don't put the number of police killed on your stats screen anymore so maybe it's becoming more civilized. As for the "golden age" of video games Sega cd was a bad ass system. "Lawnmower Man" for that system rules!!! And what's wrong with rpg's like FFX, FFXI, Metal gear solid, and
Rainbow Six?

Sega was good shit though.
I couldn't agree more. I had intellivision when I was a kid and though at the time it was the best around, compared to today's consoles like Xbox and PS2, it was dog crap.
Sure, I had a Genesis and thought it was cool (anyone remember Sword of Vermillion?), but it was nothing compared to what I have now (Xbox).

Screw the fundies and their pissing and moaning over every modern pop phenomena that crops up. In the 70's they made up stories about Alice Cooper making the audience stomp on puppies before he'd play and Zeppelin was backward masking satanic messages.

In the 80's all rock starts secretly worshipped the devil (the shitty band Slayer made a career off that), and AIDS was God's punishment for the previous decades permiscuous sex and gay openness.

In the 90's it was Marilyn Manson driving teens to suicide and grunge rock being too depressing and causing even more self demise.

Now, video games are responsible for the Columbine massacre and are greatly contributing to the demise of western civilization.

They need to give it a fucking rest already. Anything for a buzz kill from the Xtian Dick-With-Arms crowd.

And oh yeah, pot will kill you quicker than an angry Jebus would a barren fig tree. One more thing-advances in medicine are BAAAAD. Sure cloning and stem cell research have the promise of curing myriad diseases and improving the quality of life for 10's of millions, but the invisible fucking Jebus ain't around to approve of it! Assholes.
Sorry about the rant.

Bah! Ever played Morrowind: Elder Scrolls III? Best. RPG. EVER.
It's only available for PC and Xbox.
I'm 33 frickin' years old and I find this game to be incredibly immersive and a wonderful distraction from the hell that everyday life can be.
The golden age of video games is now. And when PSIII and XboxII come out in a couple of years, that will be the golden age. Better memory, graphics capability, intuitiveness, game play, and everything else you can think of will only get better.
BTW, there's an RPG coming out soon entitled "Fable" where you actually take your character (a small child) whose parents get murdered by bad guys and guide him through the rest of his life. Supposed to be pretty intense.

Default I'm coo coo for CoCo!

Sorry to say, but I'm gonna get CoCo on your buttox. The Color Computer had two of the best games ever.

1) Ghana Bwana (128K) (I forget if Zaxxon was a take off on Ghana Bwana or visa versa, in any case, Bjork programmed both of them.)
2) Downland (16K)
3) Super Pitstop (128K)

The other game of history is Wolfenstein, the "first" RPG! Before Doom ever existed. Sure, I believe the real first was, surprise!, another Color Computer game, Dungeons and Dragorth (sp?)(16K). Then there was The Castle Thoragad (sp?)(128K). But those RPGs were weak. The second one being completely impossible for me to even figure out.

You can have your consoles. I'll stick with the computer, thank you. However, Mario and Sonic didn't go to computer.

Problem with most games today is that they tend to rely on graphics and sound more than plot and device.

while I disagree with the NES was the best since it was first crowd I also disagree with this "whatevers out now is the best"

What is out now is pretty bad. I would take playstation games over most PS2 games. The only thing worth anything on X-box is Halo and the Gamecube just plain sucks (n64 sucked ass too)

RPG?

Oh, you must mean the ORIGINAL Wolfenstein, not Wolfenstein 3D, right? I've heard of it, and it sounded interesting, but I never played it.
