Arrow Debate on JM at Tektonics

Greetings all,

Tektonics is having debate in April on JM vs HJ.

I'm not sure if I'll have the time to participate, perhaps other members may like to take part?

Check here

Hmmm... well, Quentin, after Earl Doherty, you're the first guy I would pick to be in a debate. I hope that Holding's "first come, first serve" policy won't bring down the quality.

best,
Peter Kirby

How could it be avoided? The format dooms the mythicist, who must present a lot of information over time. Not to mention do extensive discussion of methodology, etc.

Iasion,

I think you're doing a very good job over in their Religion 101 forum btw. The creationists have more or less given up (they're resorting to: "If the Resurrection is true, then everything else is.") in the Science / Archaeology Department since they've been overwhelmed by evidence--in effect, they're not likely to issue a challenge there. You can take the challenge and deal with methodological problems beforehand in the Coach's Quarters extensively before being agreeing on the format, which need not involve anything less than the in-built 12,000 character limit and a set number of rounds.

freaky deakies? Thats a nice label to paste firmly on the forehead of potential "opposers"!
I checked This thread and almost threw up.
(some of)These theologywebguys seem pretty ignorant. For example:

William Dembski was at Seminary (www.sbts.edu) this week. He gave 3 lectures and we had a luncheon. It was very enlightening. The man is brilliant!
Quote:
I agree that the flagellum is a powerful argument, as is the ATP synthase motor, and that Kenneth Miller is a complete pillock.
later, he confesses:

In regards to Van Til, I do not understand how he tries to mesh naturalism with Theism they are two totally contradictory philosophies. That is how I see it right now, I have not done a whole lot of reading on ID so my knowledge is limited.
After spending a substantial amount of my time at ARN and ISCID, I am aghast at the level of ignorance, and argumentation skills displayed in that link.

As far as MJ is concerned, lets see what turns up. If anyone here decides to participate, please let us know.

Why,
thank you so much Peter for your compliment,

Your excellent site and your skepticism have been inspirations for my work.

Iason, I don't think your call for a stand is going to do much good.

Actually, on Theology Web, we are assured that about Robert (No Link) Turkel 'I have also seen him switch gears when his debate opponents have as well.', with the implication that Turkel only gets insulting after his debate opponents have as well.

http://www.theologyweb.com/forum/sho...&pagenumber=2.

So if this what Turkel calls people even before they respond to him, and he then switches gears to insult mode....
