Suggestion: "SingleAtheists" suggest that any singles wear a black and white ribbon throughout the GAMOW weekend so you can find each other. You can make your own or we will have Black & White Evolving Awareness DNA double helix ribbons available at all events marked with a **.
For those that would like the ribbons, but don't want to be designated as a single Red&White DNA Helix ribbons will be available. The events marked with ** are at public places, thus wearing the ribbons will help us find each other) These are just suggestions, not requirements.

What: ** Halloween Gathering Costume Party

Type: Public event not a private party.

Who: Since is public anyone can go 21 & up.

Dress: Halloween costumes preferred but not required. No sweat suits, men-no tank tops.

Attendance: at your own risk, this is informal and unofficial gathering (this applies to all events)

When: October 31st 9pm-2am

Where: Lulu's (A night club that is open to the public)

Details: If you are in town early meet us at Lulu's. This is the best Halloween Party in Washington DC with a very competitive annual costume contest with $1000 in prizes.

How to find other godless: Look for people wearing DNA helix ribbons Red&White or Black and White. Look for person wearing 2 ribbons and she will have extra ribbons. Ribbons are free but donations to cover costs are always welcome, but never required. Black & White ribbons are for those wishing to designate themselves as "singles" for the weekend's activities.

FYI: If possible we will send a host to the lobby of Hilton Garden Inn/Arlington/1333N.Courthouse at 6:30pm & 7:30pm for anyone that wants to walk over to Cosi with them Look for a person with DNA Helix Ribbon. However, we cannot guarantee this.

Details: The official GAMOW Buffet is sold out. Those that want alternative dinner arrangements can meet nearby to the official GAMOW hotels at Cosi Coffee&Bar.
This is not an official GAMOW event. Attendance is at your own risk and expense.
We will begin to gather at Cosi at 6pm but you can arrive late.

Look for the people with the DNA Helix ribbons or the table that has an RFDC sign on it.

One group of people will stay at Cosi Coffee & Bar to eat.

Others will be taken with a local area host to nearby restaurants in groups of 6-10 people. This will allow getting to know a small group of people. Hosts will try to answer any questions you have about the DC area.

All restaurants will be within 1-2 blocks (short walks). Most of the restaurants are very casual. One is an Italian restaurant. There are no "fine dining or 4 star" restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Entrée's range from $6.95-$12.95 average at each restaurant.
Anyone on a tight budget can opt to go next door to Boston Market, Wendy's or Pizza Hut, however the hosts will not be going to those locations.

Some people can choose to stay and eat at Cosi as space is available.

After dinner feel free to head back to Cosi Coffee & Bar if space is available for coffee or drinks. Cosi is open until 1am.

Where: Starts from "staging area" located on the National Mall directly east of 14th st SW Washington, DC. It is a wide , gravel walkway bounded on the north side by grass & Madison Drive.

Sponsors: facilitated by Single Atheists & RFDC

Type: Public location, not a private party

Who: Single atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, and other godless types.

Dress: Casual

When: Saturday, Nov. 1st 5:30pm-7pm (If Godless march ends later than expected then this singles event may start later than expected. This will allow people time to go home or to hotels to change clothes. Thus, don't panic if it starts late)

Details: Initiated by Single Atheists (a yahoo group) but open to any single godless types. Meet and hang out at Cosi Coffee & Bar. Look for people wearing black&white ribbons. DNA helix b&w ribbons will be available at no charge, however donations to help cover the costs are always welcome.

At 7pm we will adjourn to the official GAMOW Social at Ragtime 1345 N. Courthouse, Arlington. Ragtime is only 1-2 blocks away and next door to official GAMOW hotels. Feel free to keep your ribbons on during GAMOW Social.
After GAMOW Social winds down singles feel free to head out to Polly Esther's for dancing. See event details further down in this post.

11/02/02 Some people have mentioned they are meeting at American Restaurant at Union Station or the Food Court at Union Station immediately after the Godless March. I am not positive of the details on these get togethers.

Hey Marylandnaturegirl!

I want to thank you personally for setting up all of that stuff! Turns out that if you hadn't done that, (and therefore I wouldn't have printed out your previous thread) I would have gone to the wrong hotel!

The singles ribbon idea was great! I met LOTS of single atheists (mostly men , but some women ), all identified by the ribbon.

I am sure my time at the march would not have gone as well if you hadn't come!

I too must thank the great Naturegirl of Maryland. Since I was coming from Seattle alone, it was great to have somewhere to meet people before the march. Even if most were right coasters

Now when I am hunting through others photos, I have a group to find rather than just a tall bald guy in a green jacket.
