I guess he thought they might use their wheelchairs....they kinda resemble the terrifying iron chariots of old.

Yikes. Quite a comeback to stupid "GOD LIKES TO GO TO SCHOOL!" commentary, but I can predict the response you'll get (if any at all):

"She was actually an atheist who hated God"

Of course, that has nothing to do with the fact that violence DOES happen in God Schools, but since when do fundamentalists care about things like honest discussion?

By the way, I invite you all to join Yahoo's Atheist vs Christian chatroom. It is in the religion section and it is a so-called "user room". Stimulating debate in there a lot of the time and interesting conversation almost all of the time.
I gather there's not many fundamentalists there?

Actually I equate these with the rise of fundamentalism. Fudamentalism, the beginning of the turn fo the republican party, the creation of groups like the John Birch Society and Macrthyism mark the beginning of this trend.

In fact America begins to rise as the preemminent world power at this time as well.

I don't think some Latino kid in the inner city is beating up his classmate because the classmate doesn't like George Bush...

:banghead:

What correlation does school violence have with "rise of American power"?

I say that in jest but, if God is who Xians say he is, would he really leave all the schools just because the courts (allegedly) "kicked him out"? "Allegedly", because saying the court rulings "expelled" God from schools expresses a gross misunderstanding of the law.
But what if the argument made is a sociological one, not religious in nature. Or, in other words, what if the argument were that having religion in schools is good independant of the truth of said religion. Now I still think this is argument is incorrect, but I think that at least for the sake of intellectual pursuit we should try to refute the argument without invoking anything specific about the religion's logical deficiancies.

What if? Well, it's not, at least by most making the argument, like those that composed, sent, and continue to pass around the message in the OP.

They don't want any old religion in schools! Heaven forbid! They want their Biblical Jesus to be the lone god patrolling the hallowed halls. God can do it, with the Bible-based Government's help if necessary, if Pat Robertson's prayer campaign works! After all, that's what the founding fathers intended!

Funny thing is you can put anything in the first line and it will be funny.

I doubt that most of these emails and pieces of xian propaganda are intended for serious debate. They are simply clusterbombing the populace with material that they know average folks in the middle won't resist and will integrate as fact. This is the sort of urban myth that most people won't take the time to challenge, as it's also the type of nonsense that passes unquestioned in churches and coffee shops all over, and because it is what a gob of people want to believe. It's simply used to keep pushing product. These arguments are porous and vulnerable to the most cursory scrutiny, but the people they are intended for are the same people that chain emails are intended for. Out of every 100 sent out there is likely to be a few chumps or intellectually challenged persons that will bite.

What about other measures of morality and social progress?

Ever since god was kicked out of the schools:

a) The teen pregnancy rate has been falling
b) Race crimes have been in decline
c) Man has ventured into space
d) the computer revolution has hit high gear
e) the American economy has been getting stronger and leading the world
f) communism has been on the decline
g) life expectancy is longer
h) infant mortality is lower

etc, etc, etc,
