Probably the same place most seriously deranged people come from...take Mr. Phelp's bible away, and he'd make an excellent serial killer or Stormtrooper.

Very sad people.
I'm looking at the bright side. We have an open and tolerant high school (sounds better than mine). The good guys outnumber the bad. And I hope the lesbians win, just to spite them |

In my best estimation, these guys almost always do more harm to their cause than good. Follow me.
Extremism and over-exposure invariably polarizes. It makes the fence-sitters choose sides. Look at abortion. If there wasn't all the debate and protests and discussion about it, most of us probably wouldn't have much of an opinion. We might lean one way or the other, but we wouldn't have a real, informed, solid opinion one way or the other. It would be out of our mind, out of our thoughts. When nuts like this get up and scream about how gays are evil, abandoned by god, it makes people think. They have to evaluate where THEY stand. For some, it's a very tough choice. But when it's plastered all over the media and shoved in your face, you just can't ignore it. You gotta decide. It forces you to take sides, one way or the other. And I've got faith in people. Or, rather, I have confidence that most people, most of the time, come down on the right side. Confidence based on experience. I've seen my share of shit, and my share of idiots. But, on the balance, most of us figure it out. And, in a democratic society, that's all we really need. |

Here is an idea, when planning an Infidels gathering, plan around Phelps.
If the Reverend of hate plans something remotely near you, plan a gathering! The last thing he needs is well informed debaters who can discuss the issues from an informed point of view. Without his emotional rhetoric, the man is just a loud lunatic... Any Colorado area plans from this bunch of mouth foamers? |

The Reverand (and I use that loosely) Phelps is an absolute backwards idiot. He gives the sane people living in Kansas a reason to want to kick his ass. He even goes so far as to picket churches (my old one included) for preaching tolerance to the gay community. He personally threatened the minister of our church with a group "picketing" at his home if he didn't toughen up his biblical stance on the homosexual activities.
The man and his followers need help. |
