A simple question to atheists.
Gang,
I had a quick question I wanted to get the atheists perspective on... What if ones revelation of God is dependent upon their attitude toward God? Thoughts and comments welcomed, Satan Oscillate My Metallic Sonatas |

Then God would be no different than ghosts, alien abductors, atrology, and psychics. People are great at convincing themselves something is true when they ignore scientific investigation and instead focus on having the right "attitude". |

All,
There seems to be a slight disconnect here. I am not saying that one must first assume God exists before they 'see' God. This is the main thrust of Vibr8gKiwi, K and Kvalhion's posts. I am also not saying that one must force themselves to believe in God...this was the point of SecularFuture's post. I am saying that for those with a certain attitude evidence for God is provided. However, for those with a different attitude...there is little or no evidence. In this way the evidence one has is contingent upon their attitude. That's exactly what I thought you meant. And I would repeat my same comment. With the right attitude, one can find "evidence" for anything. Now if you are talking about empirical evidence that only appears to those with the right attitude, that would be something different. But I don't think that's what you mean. |

Are you saying that what convinces one person might not convince another person? I don't know what the answer to that is. There doesn't seem to be any absolute scale that measures how far evidence goes in proving something. I may ask for evidence of the existence of a god and a theist will point to a tree and reply "there, there's all the evidence you need. How else could that tree have gotten there?" <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
