Yup, that's an excuse people that claim paranormal powers often use when they fail in objectively-performed controlled tests, except I've heard it also as: 1) it's the pressure that causes problems - I need to be relaxed for it to work; 2) the skeptic's negative energy (or something along those lines) is interfering with my powers! (kinda like Tinkerbell - you gotta believe for her to live!) My reply : hmph ... that's a VERY ARROGANT remark. Skeptics seems to forget a few things when dealing with such tests, like : 1. the brain is also where emotions comes from SO emotions from others WOULD INDEED affect them as well. 2. In most cases (especially in non-lab environments), such ability did work. IF in a lab it doesn't work, it is either doesn't exists OR the lab environment isn't suitable for it to work. I don't mind accepting it doesn't exist (for YOUR benefits) if you had already made sure that the lab environment IS in suitable condition for it to work. By echidna So unless I believe it works, it won’t work ? My reply : Depends on what you believe. If you believe that such thing is PART of you, it will work. If you simply want it to work so you can believe in it (being doubtful), then it will not work. Just like cycling, even so you fall a few dozen times while trying to get your balance properly, as long as you have the will to try again and learn from your mistakes, you will learn to cycle. Hmmm, what Mageth said. I trust you can see how absurdly circular that is, and exactly reinforces the sceptic’s explanation that your observance of phenomena, is a direct product of your desire to observe these phenomena. My reply : Up to you what you wish to believe, right? I mean, even you say it doesn't exist, but if I have it and it works for me, then your views doesn't matter, right? Can you name any other human behaviour which defies objective scientific study on these grounds ? There should be dozens, but in reality there are ways to scientifically study even mood-dependent behaviours in humans. Except of course ESP & the like. Now why might that be ? My reply : Don't understand what you are asking. Mind rephasing the question? |

is telepathy possible?
If we are to believe some people who claim to have been abducted by Aliens who then comunicated telepathicaly with them, then maybe,
There was a story on Unsolved mysteries TV show,a while back where four people got abducted in Maine wilderness,(why it never happens in the midle of the city where many people could witness this is another question)but still by their traumatized behavior it seemed pretty convincing that it might have happened, (who knows),for more on this; do a search on "Allagash four abduction", |

Yeah, but you don't have it. It doesn't work for you. All you have is the word of someone who says it works for him. My reply : No ... I do have it. To me it is more than words and I can see the effect by my own eyes. How is that possible? Simple, I'd meet this friend I was telling you about at least twice a week and he will tell me about what he dreamt (that's how he sees the future, through his dreams ... according to him). So, you see ... again, it is simply your words against what I saw and understood. Oh ... just edited to add that my friend wasn't dreaming when he "predicted" the results of the card game his brother had with bunch of friends ... I believe I'd about this in another thread. |

Seraphim I have many assertions, starting with my fabulous (and well kept secret) ability to turn water into petroleum. Now, it only works if you believe me, I mean really believe me. True, for some reason I can't reproduce it in a laboratory but that's probably because laboratories generate the negative aura of scepticism. But you can trust me, just let me know & I'll give you a postal address to send the cheque to for further information ... |

And I knew you were going to say that as well ! Maybe Seraphim can allude as to whether my assertion might be fraudulent or otherwise. My reply : Nope, that's just logical deduction from Kally. By stating that you know the answer after it been revealed, there is a big chance that you were lying to her. No need psychic ability for that. I have no use for petroleum since I'm into Computers and I have no idea what to do with them. However, I suggest you take this to some oil companies in US or some in Middle East and maybe if you can duplicate it, or maybe in your own sweet time, produce a few drums of oil, they could believe you and accept your offer. |

Let's see, national intelligence agencies, casinos, stock market speculators. Any reason why not ? Maybe you only use your powers for niceness ? Maybe financial reward interests you little ? Maybe you have not yet mastered your powers to be at your command ? Forgive me, your scepticism has temporarily clouded my reading of your thoughts. |

Isn't it funny how scepticism works ? Now I can suggest that your psychic ability would be of massive interest to all kinds of people, indeed you could rapidly grow as powerful as a president. My reply : All that I see is just someone who is taking shortcut to the process of finding truth and maybe endless possibilities of the human mind and closing his own mind because what he knows now is all he cares to know. Let's see, national intelligence agencies, casinos, stock market speculators. Any reason why not ? Maybe you only use your powers for niceness ? Maybe financial reward interests you little ? Maybe you have not yet mastered your powers to be at your command ? My reply : Hmph ... if I want to make big bucks in short time, I could have brainwash my friend in duplicating that thing he did for his brother several years ago in a casino. Then again, I'm a man of principles and I don't not take what is not belongs to me. Then again ... you maybe not understand that part. Forgive me, your scepticism has temporarily clouded my reading of your thoughts. My reply : Nope ... your heart is blocking what your mind could have seen ... |
