Question Descartes hyperbolic doubt

Im having trouble understanding how Descartes hyperbolic doubt is related to our own doubts. Is it just that he doubts things more globally rather than locally? Surely by reading the Mediations are own doubts become hyperbolic anyway? And yes, I do have an essay to write on this, and no i don't understand a word of the supposedly helpful texts such as Bernard William's Pure Enquiry.

Anyone want to help a poor confused infidel?

Do you not understand the purposes of his so called doubting? Or am I not understanding your question? Anyway, here's a link to a what my philosophy professor uses to teach Descartes.
