Default What is the smallest seed?

Somewhere in the Gospels Jesus says "the mustard is the least amoung seeds," but I know this is not true. Is there a list of seeds that are smaller than the mustard?

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, "The smallest seeds are those of epiphytic orchids. Each gram contains around 992.25 million seperate seeds (28,129.81 million/oz.)."

Matt. 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:"

This verse supplies the subject: seeds that are sown in a field.

Matt. 13:32 "Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof."

of all seeds: Supply the Ellipsis from verse 31 = "than all the seeds (that a man sows in his field)."

Whether or not that is still true today, I do not know.

Let's apply that reasoning to another subject and see how it works out, anime. "The hunter shot the prarie dog with his high velocity 30 caliber, a 30-416 Rigby, which is the fastest of all cartridges."

What would a person knowledgable about cartridges think I meant? Apply the same logic you used to explain "the smallest of all seeds."

Simple,

Not all seeds are sown in a field. Therefore the qualifier is established in verse 31. What kinds of sead the man is sowing are the only ones of concern.

What qualifier was established in your analogy?

And how does your example prove me wrong?

I am not knowledgable about cartridges, so to ask me what one who is would think is futile.

You didn't answer the question. Please apply your logic to my example.

I am not knowledgable about cartridges, so to ask me what one who is would think is futile.

So I am wrong for what reason?

Are you a botanist? You seem to feel you are qualified to speak about plants and their seeds.

The statement was made by E.W. Bullinger who was familiar with ancient Figues of Speech inlcuding Ellipsis.

So you cannot take the standards applied to Biblical interpretation and apply them to other subjects?
