Well, let me give you my Mom's phone number...

I guess my point is that when we understand where the other is coming from, there's no need for anger, resentment, tension, etc. I respect your right to disbelieve, I only question the implication (not necessarily given by you, but often given by others in this forum--christian and non-christian alike) that one or the other of us possesses superior reasoning power.

Maybe not superior reasoning power or ability, but certainly I believe I am in possession of better premises. You do too. And I may even believe that I possess superior reasoning ability, and I'll admit here plainly that I can reason better than anyone in my family, but as you pointed out (unintentionally) it would likely be impolitic to say so in the presense of anyone who might believe my remarks were directed at them.

But someone on here said that if faith moves mountains, doubt puts them right back where they were (or something to that effect). I agree, doubt and faith can't exist in the same mind at the same time.

I've posted that soundbite before, but I didn't originate it. But I agree with you, maintaining faith and doubt at the same time is untenable. Some people do it, though. And if you want my testimony, I can tell you from experience that every time I have gotten into trouble in my life, it was because I failed to exercise sufficient doubt, not because I lacked faith, let me tell you!
