I think that the junk that turned up was nothing more than what the government claims, the remains of a balloon. Not that our government doesn't lie to us. They do so all the time, but in this case I think they told the truth more or less, perhaps by accident. There were no bodies etc.

My concern is just with the legend. I hear people, Richard Carrier among them, saying that the legend started about 30 years after the incident when I know of my own personal experience that the legend was full blown less than 5 years after the incident.

Please don't not construe this as a criticism ot Richard Carrier. He is a very intelligent person but the only evidence he has points to origin of the legend in the '70s. What I know is evidence to me but hearsay to Carrier. If I could find some evidence to corroborate my memories I'm sure he would be only too happy to take it into considertion.

I'm a lot older than Carrier. I was 19 at the time of the Roswell incident. I was a civilian flight student at the time and the flying saucer craze was everywhere but especially rife in the aviation industry.

My guess is that Col. Corso heard these stories as well, then wrote a book filled with all the rumors he heard not to mention adding plenty of stuff he heard later and a little more to puff up his own achievements and importance as well.

There is also a very strange book by an ex Navy man William Cooper called "Behold a Pale Hores" but it is really 'out there'.

Probably this sounds offensive and it's not meant to be insulting. It simply is how the human memory works.

Told ya it was very strange and 'out there'

He's a paranoid 'one world government' guy with men in black suits chasing him around. Other UFO researchers have caught him in some lies eg. the "Krill" business with Eisenhower, yet he claims all UFO researchers are CIA.
The only reason I brought it up was I remember some peole wrote to back up some of his stories and they seemed to be from the 1950's or early sixties. But the guy is a nut. As soon as he got off his UFO experiences in the Navy and started talking about the OWG stuff I lost interest.

Wasn't there also some guy, some years ago, who went public with alledgedly film footage of the disection of Rosswell aliens?

I vaguely remember reading somewhere, that later on turned out to be a hoax. Perhaps others have more info on what I'm talking about.
