Is God against America?
We currently have the most religious president and govt we`ve ever had in the 33 years I`ve been alive. We are constantly hearing stuff about God,faith and "praying for the USA" on a daily basis and I don`t recall the media ever being so saturated with religious talk.
While we have all been praying and asking for God to bless and protect us some pretty ironic and terrible shit has happened. Heres a short list of recent events: 1.)Space shuttle explodes. 2.)Fire at RI club not far from where I live kills 96 people (4th deadliest fire in American history) 3.)Barge with millions of gallons a gas explodes in New York. 4.)Stampede at Baltimore(?) night club kills twenty something people. 5.)Freakishly cold weather kills numerous people around the country. 6.)Duke University makes huge transplant mistake and kills girl even though her parents were constantly praying. 7.)God seems to have it out for the kiddies as well since the entire roof of a Toys R US collapsed today. Theres probably a bunch of other recent teriible shit that I`m missing. And lets not forget that those towers went down soon after our praying president got into office. So whats with God? If this is how he protects and blesses America, whats going to happen when hundreds of thousands of Americans go to Iraq? Can you really trust that God is going to help you in Iraq if he can`t even be bothered to protect you at home? |

God isn't protecting America - why would he protect America and no where else? He doesn't take sounds between countries.
Those tragic events are not God's fault - They are natural consequences of the fall of humanity and Satan. Amazing how much people love to blame God for your own failures. Humans choose to reject God - suffer the consequences of that choice. God gave us Free will, bad things happen because of it. |

It's that veil of protection -- It can stand up to all manner of terrorists, but is tragically vulnerable to abortionists and homosexuals.
Rumour has it, it's also dry clean only. |

No shit. You'd think it might occur to the fundies... "God, please STOP blessing us!!!"
My fundy aunt has a bumper sticker on her car that says "America, Bless God" Hmmm... how exactly does one go about "blessing" God?!?!? " Bless you, God. Bless you." God: What, did I sneeze?!?!! (insert vomiting smilie here) Quote:

"If my people will humble themselves and pray, I will heal their land." Haven't you heard Fenton? The number of praying grandmothers is way down. Thanks to folks like you and the Golden Girls, they're into more fleshly pursuits. Oh wait. I forgot. you never saw the link between praying grandmothers, morals and happy societies. Rad |

I agree very much with Quote:
Its always interesting how some atheists who seem to blame things on God but then give God no credit for the Good and then get on a theist's case for giving God credit for the good and not putting blame on God for the negative. Welcome to the wonderful world of Hypocrisy my dear sweet Christian brethren... Quote:
