Post Question for FunkyRes

In another thread you wrote:

Quote:
In my opinion, they are recorded to demonstrate that God is before anything
came to existance and authoritve over the entire universe, and that they are
not recorded to give us a literal history of what God did that man could not
have possibly recorded since in both stories, we were the last to be made.
I'm curious:

- how do you know it isn't literal
- can that logic be applied to any other parts of the bible?
- If so, which other parts of the Bible do you believe weren't meant to be literal?
