I saw on the news the other day where some citizen refugees were trying to leave one of the cities. They crossed a bridge and were then detained and searched by coalition troops, then sent back across the bridge into the city.

Yes indeed, friends up the ass. Eventually even our few remaining friends will become so sick of the US that the next time a real terrorist trys to enter the US with a package of some sort. They may just look away and say fuck it, hes only going to the USA, let Mr. Big Superpower deal with it

Apparently our plan to fight terrorism includes pissing off terrorist-supporting nations, as well as "borderline" nations, at every opportunity. If fire ants sting you, stirring up the nest is not the best way to get them to stop.

Absolutely right. We sure "lost" a good "friend" in one of the longest-running members of the state-sponsor's-of-terrorism club!

Didn't seem to bother us in Gulf War I, where Daddy Bush 'rehabilitated' Syria to include them among the few, the proud, the COALITION FORCES.

And it's not like we're averse to state-sponsored terrorism. We're working hand-in-hand with Pakistan now, in spite of the fact that they were propping up terrorists in Afghanistan.

The biggest source of terrorists is Saudi Arabia, a rather nasty monarchy. The second is Algeria, the government of which is a rather nasty miliary junta who are responsible for far more deaths of their own people over the last decade than Saddam, currently 120,000 dead or missing.

Why aren't we going after them first?

Hell even Yemen and Libya would qualify ahead of Iraq if terrorism was really a factor in all this!

Right. And it didn't stop Roosevelt from working with that mass-murder Stalin either.

Are you denying they are a state-sponsor of terrorism?

Operative phrase being "were." If Syria stopped being a sponsor of terrorism and began handing over top Al-Queda operatives, much would be forgiven.

How are they any more a "state sponsor" than the US is of the IRA?

When the US start handing over IRA members living in the US then I will take this "war on terrorism" seriously!

And stop selling equipment to the Iraqis, as Cheney did in violation of the sanctions before he was the Veep.

In any case, yes, it is sad that Syria and North Korea are not our friends. The world would be a lot more peaceful.

Syria provides weapons, training, and material support to terrorist groups such as Hezbollah. Please prove that the US government provides weapons, training, and material support to the IRA.
