To get back to the original topic, stay away from any instituionalized religion claiming to have hotline to the Almighty through a mortal man who is elected by other humans.

You might wish to consider starting your thoughts about a mortal being elected by other mortals, to act as the divine head of a specific religion, with the manner in which those same mortals determined which of the hundreds, if not thousands, of ancient writings would be declared "divinely inspired" and worshiped as the actual words/guidance of their make-believe gods. Through the history of Christianity, the Master Manipulators simply can't seem to agee on which ones are divinely inspired and which are not. I bet that even Amos, who uses the NAB as his source of spiritual inspiration, would admit that the divinity of the various biblical texts has little to do with the actual, practical, merits of their contents. If so, I would label that very Jeffersonian. |

If you sincerely want to communicate, rather than obfuscate, you have to take responsibility for the fact that people here don't understand what you are trying to say. I know that part of the Gnostic "thang" is to use language to invoke certain Zenlike mental states, but I'm not sure that is a legitimate (let alone effective) thing to try to do in a discussion where people are trying to understand each other. Why don't you just drop the meta-prose and the mega-pose and just make your points as effectively and simply as I have seen you do in that other thread? I only make the point because I believe you have something to say that is worth hearing, but no one is hearing you right now. |
