Talking The "J" word

I heard about this last week and it had supposedly happened the week before that. So I apologize if there's already a thread floating somewhere about it. I looked, but I didn't see any.

Anyway, I heard that the t.v. show The View beeped out the word "Jesus" when one of the ladies on the show said, "Thank you, Jesus" while on the air. The producers said that they didn't want to offend anyone.

As hilarious as I find it for them to beep the "J" word out, this flies directly in the face of the whole first amendment. They have a right to say what they want, too.

Is anyone able to confirm or deny that this actually happened?

Isn't Star Jones on The View? Maybe, if the J word really was beeped out, it has something to do with her comment about not voting for atheists? Nah, they wouldn't care if an atheist was offended. What was I thinking?

This has nothing to do with the first amendment. The television network is only interested in advertising revenue. If the network feels that it is in its best interests to remove this reference to Jesus, the first amendment is no worse off.

BUT, from what I understand, the entire point of The View is to get the viewpoint of the five different co-hosts.

Of course, being operated by a tv network, I understand that it's not violating the first amendment itself; just the underlying principles of it. That's all I meant.

Yes, Star Jones is one of the co-hosts.

I wonder if they're going to start bleeping out Allah, or Zeus?

-Perchance.
