Church sued for not being able to produce Jesus
This morning I heard a news story on NPR. Tow elderly ladies gave 67 acres and a large sum of money (maybe their life savings) to a local minister and his church because...He told the two women he would produce Jesus Christ in the flesh. For some reason he was unable to do this and the two women finally decided their might be something wrong so they sued. The court awarded them $100,000. The response from the church was "Christians have always been persecuted and this is just one more example of it."
I may have some of the facts a little wrong (money and such) but the gist of the story is there. |

I would say, "Ministers have always been fleecers of the flock and this is just one more example of it."

I found a link to the story in the SecWeb's own Newswire feature: A jury awarded $290,000 to two women who said they were deceived by a fundamentalist church whose leaders promised to produce Jesus Christ in the flesh.
What a bizarre story! Bill |

I am waiting for the day that mental institutions will sue because many there are ex fundies or have been zapped by fundies. The degree of insanity caused by this will be difficult to prove (not if I was judge).
