Christians see everyone here as "liberals" destroying their worldview

I quote: "Liberals, who oppose the Judeo-Christian worldview, are out to obliterate the worldview that this country has always had," Minnery said. "We have seen negative statements made against those who hold to a traditional Judeo-Christian worldview, like we've never seen before." [ November 01, 2002: Message edited by: MOJO-JOJO ]</p> |

OK, time for a little effectiveness assessment: what have you done to obliterate America's worldview today?
I know it's sort of like announcing that pigs smell bad, but what a bunch of morons. I'm especaially amused by their research source: the towering pillar of free inquiry and research prowess, Grove City College. "Grove City College remains true to the vision of its founders. Rejecting relativism and secularism, it fosters intellectual, moral, spiritual, and social development consistent with a commitment to Christian truth, morals, and freedom." Well, if a worldview is wrong, what's wrong with trying to change it?
I'm sure Southern U.S. conservatives before the civil war railed about liberals attacking their "worldview" (I'm sure they had a different word) that involved the necessity and morality of the slave trade. Was it wrong for those "liberals" to try to tear down that worldview? Jamie |

I like him and the Christianity he stands for. I’d say that the fundy conservatives have stolen Jesus from the liberals. |

How can Liberals wreck the Christian world view when it's the Christians themselves who set up their world views with massive inherent flaws?

It is not "all" Christians who see everyone here as "liberals" destroying their worldview. It is only a minority of very un-Christian Christians that have been successfully selling (cleverly merchandising) that belief to their majority Christian brethren in order to silence descent within the Christian community. They have successfully been able to use "Liberal" to represent anyone who is not on their specific Christian dogma bandwagon, and to use "Conservative" to indicate only those who are. It is the identical technique that was used in the Cold War. Communism, an economic system, was labeled "Atheistic Communism" rather than "Anti-Capitalistic Communism." Today, rather than "Liberals" and "Conservatives" to identify political philosophies of government, it has become "Atheistic Liberals" and "God Fearing Conservatives." Little thought or insight seems to have been given to the fact that the majority of liberals in this country, must also, for obvious reasons, be Christians. The instant I saw that this was a "Focus on the Family" article, I already knew what it would contend. |

The idea that True Christians(tm) are all ultra-conservatives is one reason why I find Christian message boards so disheartening.
It's a mystery how I can continue to call myself a Christian and yet be pro-murder(abortion) and yet anti-death penalty, pro-gay(?), pro-environment, and just generally pro-Satan. One day I'll see the light. Sigh. --tibac |
