Jesus used a wand?
Hello there, in another thread I brought up the early stories of Jesus that included his use of a wand.
The Christian catacombs around Rome(skip to second article) include frescoes depicting this, and I saw another site mention that he used the wand for his healing, as well as the tricks with the loaves and fishes. I am having a surprisingly difficult time tracking down the old site that had lots of info about this with Google, does anyone here know more about this and perhaps remember a site with more details? Thanks. |

Sure, but did he show the crowd that there was nothing up his sleeves?

Must be from the same guy who painted that picture in the 1400's of Mary with baby Jesus and a flying saucer over her left shoulder.

Also note that jesus is a young boy without a beard in all of them. And there really is no sign of a cross. just funny how things change.

"Is that a wand in your hand, Jesus, or are you just glad to see me?"

Here are a couple of citations from the Jewish Talmud which accuse Jesus of being a magician and a deceiver. I would imagine this to mean a fraud.
I have long thought that Jesus’ magic as described in the NT seemed to be highly theatrical and easily faked. It is hard to say whether these Jewish citations are independent of Christian tradition or not. They may be a response to Christian claims. Talmud Sanhedrin 107b, Sotah 47a “And the master said: Yeshu {the Notzri} practiced magic and deceive and led Israel astray.” Talmud Sanhedrin 43a “It is taught: On the eve of Passover they hung Yeshu and the crier went forth for forty days beforehand declaring that "[Yeshu] is going to be stoned for practicing witchcraft, for enticing and leading Israel astray. Anyone who knows something to clear him should come forth and exonerate him." But no one had anything exonerating for him and they hung him on the eve of Passover.” |
