Default Atheist biblical scholars?

I am engaged in an argument on the christian forums and I am looking for some soures if any of you can assist:

Are there any atheists here who are biblical scholars, and if so what arguments do you have against the history of Jesus being true? The person I am debating is trying to state that no biblical scholar would dispute jesus's historical backing, and that no biblical scholar could disprove the bible.

Any assistance you can give is appriciated.

Not sure if this is the kind of thing your looking for, but I saw this post a couple days ago:
What's the best argument against historical Jesus?
Good luck!

There are biblical scholars who have reached their atheism through studying the bible. Robert Price comes to mind. His position is that you can not prove the existence of a historical Jesus, and that early Christianity appears to have coalesced from many different centers, rather than starting with one (semi-divine or not) person.

Check out his articles in the II Library.

He is, of course, not here (as he isn't anywhere anymore), but Isaac Asimov was an atheist and since he did write a guide to the bible I'm sure you could consider him a biblical scholar.

Gerd Ludemann is a New Testament scholar who used to be a "liberal Christian" but, if I recall correctly, has since repudiated Christianity entirely. Whether he is an atheist, I do not know. His books are well worth a read.
