Default View Count

What is the point of having the view count? Does it kinda bug anyone else but me? I just hate seeing those little threads with 2 responses but 96 views. Like all those people read it, but nobody cared enough or thought it was interesting enough (or whatever) to respond. Of course it's gonna happen, there are lots of lurkers and people aren't always interested or just don't know what to say. But still, does it have to be shown so blatantly?

That's probably how this thread will end up! Yes, I'm just saying it for my own self-esteem!

I kind of like the veiw count, it lets you know that people are reading the posts. I also think its interesting to see a threads veiw to post ratio. It seems to vary quite a bit.

I'd just like to add that I opened it 30 times before posting.

Cool

I know what you mean, Orie. We talked about that at the little SoCal Infidel get-together we had last week. While I agree that it can be depressing to see a high count and few responses, I like having it there. When the numbers are good, I feel like I've contributed something of value to the IIDB community. When they aren't, I just convince myself that I didn't come up with a catchy enough title.
