Lightbulb How to prove the non-existence of God

I know how to prove that God does not exist. All you need to do is open your heart and earnestly seek Him. When nothing happens, you will know that God does not exist. If you do this and God does reveal Himself then you aren’t doing it right. Perhaps your heart isn’t really open.

Wait, I've heard an argument similar, but not identical, to this before. Does anybody know where?

Greetings:

Has any theist (Christian or otherwise) ever explained how one can 'know' that their 'personal communication' with 'God' was NOT an hallucination or imagined wishful thinking?

Keith.

since no one can prove the existence of god,
isn't that proof enough it doesn't exist?

Faustuz,

Yep, everyone seeks the answer that same way. Strangely enough, some people find God that way and some don't. Personally, nothing ever happened for me. *grins*

How does one know that one's sensory experience isn't illusory or NOT an hallucination ?

The theist will find your question about experiences of God just as absurd as you find the above question.

From an epistemic point of view, there is a clear parity.

Who says it's a feeling that's going to be noticable right away? It is a relationship with God that you build. There will be no kind of hallucinagenic immediate response.

Not necessary to prove that "god" *doesn't* exist. Those who allege/assert the existence of "god" have the job/obligation to PROVE=
demonstrate their assertion. Damnsightsmarter guys than you/us have tried to do that & haven't.So?

That may or may not be so. However, I've heard from Christians many times that all I need to do is open myself to God, and personally ask Him to reveal Himself, and if I did so I would become a believer. Since I am not currently a believer it is pretty hard for me to build a relationship, or to even try to build a relationship, with any God. I think you would have to agree that it is a strange concept to try to build a relationship with something you do not believe to exist.
