Exclamation

Hi BBT,
Quote:
I wonder though- How evil does someone have to be, by your standards, for their death to be a good thing? Would you guys have had problems with wishing death upon Hitler? do you have problems with people wishing death upon Bin Laden? Hussein? When is it too much? I think Robertson is well beyond the line. You don't need to kill people to do damage.
I think that is an excellent and thought-provoking question for people to ask themselves.

To her credit, wildernesse is at least consistent :
Quote:
I don't think that I have ever wished for the death of another person. For terrorists? Do I wish their deaths? Absolutely not. For people who hurt me? No.
However, I would venture to guess that she is in the minority. I'd bet that many people who might be offended by someone saying they are glad Robertson (may) die would not be offended by someone saying they even *want* bin Laden to die. If that's the case, I think it's important to honestly examine their own thought process and try to determine what their motivations and/or rationale are for differentiating between the two.

For my part, while I would not *seek* to cause Robertson's death (or support anyone else doing the same), I don't see his death by natural causes as a bad thing. I think his absence from the planet will be a good thing (just wish he was the last one of his ilk... unfortunately there will be another I'm sure). In my mind at least, it doesn't have to be one or the other ("He is so "evil" that I would kill him myself" vs. "I hope he doesn't die".) The only another analogy I can think of is that while I do believe that some people "deserve" death (child rapist-murderers, serial killers, war-criminal politicans etc.), I still would not "pronounce sentence" on them myself as long as they were locked up and kept from doing any harm. However, if they die I'm certainly not going to feel bad about it, and can even be glad. I don't think that makes me a hateful or vengeful person.

Question for Pat Robertson: "Did God give you prostate cancer to test your faith or is it because He simply doesn't like you?"

Talking

I think I will post a new topic with my question. Perhaps a poll.

Maybe Jerry Falwell could explain to Pat who is responsible for lowering his "veil of protection".

Yikes. Unbidden image of Pat Robertson in Sky Daddy Underoos(TM).

Go easy on Pat you guys. After all, don't you remember how in the 80's he diverted the path of a hurricane through the power of prayer? The world needs superheroes like him....

What a magnificent opportunity for "god" to perform a MIRACLE!
to make Pat Robertson's Cancer disappear, and make him live-forever, as unassailable proof that "the Lord" takes care of His own; and to prove Pat's holiness & "election" as one of God's anointed!
Wow! show Your Power, Lord of Power & Might.

My mockery here isn't very nice nor humane. I'm sorry the guy's in trouble; and I wish him a healthy outcome. Of course, none of us/nobody lives forever.

It's the least we can do.

Thumbs up

I hope he doesn't die. I hope they all live. I loved it when Falwell made his little 9/11 speech on The 700 Club, and Robertson "totally concurred." I loved it when they both (especially Robertson) lied their sorry asses off about it later. I loved it when Robertson was busted consorting with an African dictator attempting to expand his already great wealth.

I loved it when Jim Bakker was led away in tears by federal agents. I loved it when Jimmy Swaggart was caught being urinated on by hookers in cheap motels. I loved it when Anal Roberts saw the 900-foot Jesus.

These men are too damn entertaining to die. These men are Great Christians. May they live long and prosper. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Remember when that clown, Oral Roberts, wanted a million dollars in contributions or "the lord would take him home",?

Perhaps, Robertson could do likewise. He may still be "taken home", but at least his club will be richer than ever. Isn't that what it is all about? The money.
