Guess who's on Talk of the Nation right now
He insists that ID is a theory.
He insists that a watch can't make itself. Mount Rushmore is evidence of design since no such thing appears in nature. If we went to another planet and found a car and knew for sure that no people preceded us there, we would assume that it was a product of intelligent life there. Therefore, when we see something as complex a cell we must assume a designer. ID has nothing to do with religion. I was just screwing around with it] Oops another edit: I got the title of the program wrong. It was Talk of the Nation, not All Things Considered. Thanks John. Yes they have an opposing view represented. Not to mention the host seemed to have given up the position of objective reporter and was herself asking questions in a skeptical manner .

Michael Behe (along with Deborah Owens-Fink and Ernan McMullen) was on the NPR radio program Talk of the Nation today, but I missed it (I had to teach a lab).
You can listen to it here: <a href="http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm?PrgDate=02/13/20" target="_blank">http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm?PrgDate=02/13/20</a> |

The only thing missing from the program was an opposing view that had some qualification in biology. But even at that, I didnt think Behe was very persuasive.

I was kind of disappointed in the lack of biological opposition as well. None of the callers that I heard were well versed in biology either. Still he wasn't terribly convincing. I hate that he has gotten so far with his nonsense that he got an audience on a major national radio program.

I couldn't get that link to work. If anyone else couldn't, try <a href="http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm?PrgDate=02/13/2002&PrgID=5" target="_blank">here.</a> (About halfway down the page)

I think the most pathetic line was when Behe was challenged about his "God of the Gaps" mentality and he responded: "We have to be careful we don't have a 'Naturalism of the Gaps' mentality either," suggesting that just because we don't know how something happened, doesn't mean we should assume natural causes are at work.
<img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> How do you debate a mentality like that? --W@L |

Too bad they couldn't get Dawkins on to oppose him. Dawkins was on Talk of the Nation a few years ago, and made mincemeat of every creationist who called in.
