I love the way they say you are following the wrong god. I'm sorry, you were supposed to take a left back there.

Anyway, what I have read of you kind of reminds me of the minister that married me and my husband. He was very liberal (I refused to get married in church but agreed to let a minister do it - my husband is Christian) and he even drank 4 Coronas and met up with a lady attending the wedding. Pretty cool guy. You, too.

Pffffft.

You're either a masochist or a moron to try to use anything resembling "reason", even within their own frigging paradigm.

I, personally, would be *seriously* tempted if someone gave me a button to push that gave everyone on BaptistBoard some hideous incurable disease.

If all those Baptist really wanted the adult bookstore to close down, where would they buy their vibrators and butt-plugs they keep under the bed?

The bag under the bed was a great line. Yea Rev J.

I wrote a poem for you in your honor.

Rev J is our man
he's against the prono ban

The Baptists grilled him,
because his wife asked him,
to march for civil rights.
The church fried him,
because they don't understand him.
now from the BB, he takes flight.

Rev J is our man
Only Jesus is more grand.

You being Chistian and all, I realized you did what you thought Jesus would have done in your same place. Good for you.

In any event, you had the courage to publicly stand up for your principles, even though you doubtless knew it wouldn't win you lots of friends. That is a pretty good definition of "integrity."

Cheers,

Michael

Rev. Joshua, I have great respect for anybody who will put their money where their mouth is. I agree with the above, you have integrity and that is a rare commodity these days.

Good fucking God, these people are hypocrites.

Perhaps the oh-so-clever person who said you'd have marched in favor of slavery would do well to consider what most Christian churches thought about slavery two hundred years ago - or how quickly abolitionists were ostracized.

Thumbs up

What I find amusing in these cases is that conservative Christians tend to parrot the old conservative economic lines (in general) as well of "Get the government off our backs!" and "Let the free market rule!" I guess they're really socialists after all, wanting the government to regulate which businesses can operate in their towns regardless of the profits those businesses can make....

I also think it is funny that in towns with few successful downtown businesses (at least, in ours we're ALWAYS trying to get new businesses going there because few people go to them to begin with), the successful porno shop is the one some people are trying to get rid of. Dude, if it brings people downtown, it's GOOD for business! Sigh. Expecting rationality from human beings is usually disappointing and contrary to reality.

Thank you for your support of free speech for all, Rev. I cyber-stand with you for the rights of free speech for all, even about "dirty" things like (gasp) SEX...

Of course, you realize, the BB losers will use this thread to crucify the good Rev.

In the last days of May, Rev Joshua did say
"You support porn and you're branded for life"
Unfortunately for him, the Baptists were quite dim,
And caused him up such strife.

So the infidels began their replies like honey 'tracts flies,
Bashing the Baps and supporting the Rev's dance
And for all they were worth, spilled forth quite such mirth
Over the pro-porn Reverend's stance.

"You might's well be sellin," Began annoying old Helen
"Black slaves if that's what you're for.
For if you rightly choose and follow the king of the jews,
You'd realize my life is a pathetic mindless bore."

Then some other fundies appeared to say some things weird
And the IIs looked as if they had seen some ghosts
For spewing from the board was a bashing hoard
Of several stupid-infested posts.

The Reverend was pleased to see the fundies teased
For their putdowns to his stand
The IIs in there seemed to want to go scream,
But couldn't for they had all been banned.

And in its end brings page following page of a friend
Reverend Josh knows he's liked,
By Satan borne secularists and them evil post humanists
And I for one am quite psyched.

I wrote this Haiku in Rev Joshua's honor:

Rev-rand Joshua
Stands up for pornography
Go Joshua, Go

Civil rights come first,
For they are breaking no laws
Tell me: What is wrong?

Baptist Board be damned
Joshua is liberal
"Which Christ you worship?"

I support the Rev.
In fact, I think we all do
You have a home here
