Interesting editorial from the Right...

Not too nice to Democrats, or us "Heathens" as the writer put it... Linda Bowles may need some feedback on the article.. http://www.creators.com/opinion_writetheauthor.cfm?pg=write&columnsname=lb o |

Here was my feedback:
Your bigoted column does well to represent the religious right's hatred to all things non-Christian. Your uninformed and emotion laden rant does little to address the issues of religious bigotry and control. As for your reference to the Boy Scouts, the troop in my area had to disband. Some boys went to towns nearby, most had not such option to continue their Boy Scout dreams. Why? Because I am atheist, and was no longer allowed to be a troop leader. There were no others that would or could do the job, so the troop disbanded. Unlike you, I am aware that there are other religions in America, and that they have the same rights as you. I treated all equally, and enforced equal respect amoung all my troops, allowing no predjudices. These boys were well on their way to being tolerant and caring people. By disallowing me to lead, they are all back to their own devices. I have the satisfaction of knowing that these boys have been taught by the organization they adored that religious bigotry is alive and well, and a destructive force. Perhaps that lesson will serve them better than the Scouts ever could. |

Well said, Dark Jedi. Sounds like a truly idiotic nightmare you went through.

"The heathen left"! I loved it. It is on a site, townhall.com, that features conservative news and opinion, with a live chat with Dr. Laura scheduled for Jan 17.
Unfortuately, the left is more likely to be the "relgious left", not heathen. |

From the mentioned article: (given as 1954 quote by Supreme Court Justice Warren)
"... I believe the entire Bill of Rights came into being because of the knowledge our forefathers had of the Bible and their belief in it: freedom of belief, of expression, of assembly, of petition, the dignity of the individual, the sanctity of the home, equal justice under law, and the reservation of powers to the people ... " What was this guy (and anyone agreeing with him) smoking? How does: "Thou shalt have none other gods before me... Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth" do anything other than completely contradict First Amendment rights to freedom of belief and expression? Since when does the "Good Book" have anything at all to say about "equal justice under the law and the reservation of power to the people"? Jesus pretty much preached that everyone should be content to suffer under the heavy-handed rule of the caesars. Even sanctity of the family seem questionable as Bibilical in origin, considering how the family is the weak man's substitute for chaste marriage to God - and the way people are expected to sacrifice or stone to death their children left and right. Crack, I tell you. These people are on crack. That's all I can figure. Jamie |

I just love Pat Buchanan. In the article, Pat says "In half a lifetime, many Americans have seen...themselves demonized as extremists and bigots for holding on to beliefs Americans have held for generations."
I guess we should all go back to the generations old belief that slavery was ok too. We could all claim to not be bigots because "America was founded by slave-owners". Arrrgh!! |
