"Tornado in a Junkyard" by James Perloff
Does anyone here have any info on "Tornado in a Junkyard" by James Perloff. I am debating a fundie on a local radio station forum, and he has let me know that this is his major source of information. From the snippet at Amazon it appears to be the same old tripe, but I was looking for more info (say a review by an actual scientist).
I have spent the last month trying to educate this wonderful fellow, and after a month he still doesn't seem to grasp the scientific method :banghead: . To make matters worse this lovely creationist is running for the school board and is on tomorrow's ballot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Maverick |

It might seem a bit drastic but I recommend you try and discredit him with a smear campaign. 'This man blows goats' or something along those lines.

Here's a review by a creationist site:
http://www.douknow.net/ev_TornadoinaJunkyard.htm It summarised what each chapter is about, which might give you a handle on the book. Interesting that he's adding irreducible complexity into the mix right anong with YECism. He's also written an anti-one-world-government political book. Seems like a standard member of the religious right. There's also 20 sample pages on the Amazon site, which include a table of contents. Big bang, abiogenesis, and a "how to" chapter on becoming Christian. Very Darwinian. |

The best refutation of that claptrap is the truth. Read The Blind Watchmaker and understand it well. This will allow you to refute any of the claims in that pile of garbage. (Pardon the pun.)
Dogbert had a comment that fits that book well: "I read your work. You know that theory about an infinite number of monkeys on an infinate number of typewriters for an infinate time creating the works of Shakespear? 10 monkeys, 10 minutes." |
