Default Remedial help please!

Could someone list the 10 most striking examples of natural selection?

Could someone list the 10 most striking confirmed predictions of evolutionary theory?

I bet if I'd called this thread "Proof that Evilutionists are total morons" and made it a challenge people would ahve jumped on it by now.

Well, I did a quick web search and came up with:

Examples of Beneficial Mutations and Natural Selection

As well as:

Beak Depth in Galapagos Finches
Pesticide Resistance in Insect Pests
Antibiotic Resistance by Bacteria
Sickle Cell Anemia in Humans
Industrial melanism (peppered moths)

More info on some of the above

My guess is that either no one wants to bother trying to sort through them all, or they don't care to try to find a source that has already done so. Asking for the "most" is asking quite a bit in terms of required effort.

this page lists a whole lot of striking confirmed predictions of the theory.

as for natural selection, the famous speckled moths seem to be a good example.

have you looked at talkorigins.org? they seem to have a FAQ for every occasion... alas, i have not time to run down specific FAQs for you (or to hold down the shift key. damn carpal tunnel)

CX, you might want to see the following ARN thread for some good examples:

Verified Predictions of Darwinian Theory

Not that it made a dent in the ARNie's mental armor.

Here's a couple of faq's from Talk Origins.

Here's a horse FAQ,that details the, quite well recorded, evolution of the horse. As well as creationist fallacies about the subject.

One about observed instances of speciation

Ye olde 29 evidences for macroevolution.

And a transitional fossil FAQ

You might want to be more specific. There are confirmed predictions from a wide variety of biological sub-disciplines. For example, predictions based on the fossil record are a whole class by themselves. Darwin predicted that we would find human ancestors with ape-like characteristics in Africa, and they've been found in spades. Likewise, we've found transitional whales and transitional birds, both of which creationists specifically predicted would never be found.

Likewise, there are predictions from other areas of biology. For example, it was predicted that the genetic code would be non-overlapping. It was predicted that gene and proteins phylogenies would be highly convergent with morphological phylogenies. And the list goes on and on.

You might want to read this article for some good examples:

29+ Evidences for Macroevolution

On the other hand, if you mean confirmed predictions of natural selection, the thread I linked to above is a good start. I can try to find more if that's what you're looking for.

Aye Carumba! That was an amazing thread. IDist responses were simply unbelievable. My head hurts after that one.
