Post Where is he now, Ed?

The Chaplain at my school preached Evolution from the pulpit; the Genesis account of Creation and the story of the Food where folk tales, written, he said in his sermons, by people who didn't know better for people who didn't know better.
In his Religious Knowledge lessons he taught us that all the "nature" miracles described in the Old and New Testaments, from the "stopping of the sun in the sky" to the virgin birth, the raising of Lazarus and the turning of water to wine had rational explanations which had either been misinterpreted or wildly elaborated upon; he taught us that the world of the Bible was no different from the world of today in terms of magical interventions by an interfering deity.
This man, Ed, died 12 years ago today.
Where is he now?

I don't know. It depends on a number of factors. What was his view of Christ, especially his atonement and resurrection? Also, what were his thoughts on his deathbed? Did he change some of his views regarding Christ? Believing in evolution and not believing in ALL the miracles in the scriptures does not send you to hell.

"Believing in evolution and not believing in ALL the miracles in the scriptures does not send you to hell."

He believed in remission of sins and the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. He did not believe the Bible's literal accounts of the Resurrection and the Ascension, nor of Creation.
Did he go to hell for that?

I'm not sure.

Since I personally don't believe in Heaven or Hell, I assume he's RIP six feet under.

However, you might get a drive-by Christian to answer you.

Gee, Bree, ya think that might be why the topic is addressed to Ed and not, say, Bree?

No need to be rude. I did not understand who "Ed" was as I am not familiar with the person. I misread the OP as saying that "ED" was the chaplain mentioned.

So sorry - I assume everyone makes mistakes every once in awhile?

Not me; I'm Jesus reincarnated. Or Mary reincarnated. Whatever.

Why did he believe in the remission of sins and the redemptive power of Christ? If Christ did not rise from the dead then what are we redeemed from and why do we need ours sins forgiven? It sounds like he believed in an irrational mishmash of Christian belief and his own secularized faith. Such a belief system put him dangerously close to going to hell, if he died believing that "system".
