(Using the Bible Handbook as well as the King James Version to note the over 50 discrepancies in names and numbers. IMO, a couple of the names with slight spelling variations possibly doesn‘t need to be highlighted. Sometimes their highlighted, other times not. There are many other repetitious stories told in the Bible dealing with a good portion of discrepancies, many dealing with numbers and names, although none I‘ve found as long as these two pericopes, and with the sloppiness these two uncover.)

John! Where the hell have you been? I've been worried sick...

Of course, all of these, um, apparent contradictions are due to the sloppiness of uninspired scribes and should not be held against what is obviously an otherwise inspired book. Right?

Ah, but Ezra's referring to Joseph's genealogy, and Nehemiah to Mary's.

As always in theology, some things are better left ignored--until one is cornered like a rat in a trap, at which time one may say with confidence that God works in mysterious ways.

Hey diana, good to see you again.
Just as long as you don’t blame, Geehovah, that’s all that is important. He’s got a short fuse, and a shitty disposition to boot.

Been working on my biz, so I had to shut it down for about six months. Occasionally I had time to read a few boards, so, I’ve seen what kind of mischief you get into. Hope things are going good for you out in CA.

Any theist with a calculator want to check the total? I bet it isn't "forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore," unless you use "divinely inspired math."

Once you have accepted Trinitarian math, with 3=1, then you can quickly derive that any numerical quantity is equal to any other numerical quantity. This relationship is only communitive over the field of the Christian bible, so the Christian can still criticize any numerical discrepancies in any OTHER religion or holy book

PS: I wonder if there are numerical discrepancies in say the Quran...

John, you're taking them all out of context. Besides, it isn't ours to question. If the numbers appear inaccurate, I'm quite sure God has a good reason for it.

Maybe if you pray to God with all your heart, you will get the answer. Once you read with the Holy Spirit, all those apparent contradictions will go away. Just have faith, my brother. Because, with God, all things are possible.
