I developed that very fear after making the acquaintance of some very, very persistent JWs.

I think you said it right at the start there, "God if you are there". Why are you asking a question if your so sure?

"Please help me and guide me." Why are you begging?

"Show me that you exist"
Oohhhh Boy!!! Someone is in big trouble with their boss.

Beautiful analogy. Perfect. Dollar signs and all.

Robinson, there are people on these boards who spent YEARS praying before they realised it was a waste of time. As for suggesting we read your fave book - don't be so patronising! Some of us have read countless books and have thought about god and religion from every conceivable angle and we've all come to the same conclusion: There is no rational reason to believe in the existence any deity and we can listen to the conversion stories of the weak, the gullible and the despairing from now until eternity and it isn't going to make one iota of difference to us. Stick around and read the debates on the upper fora - they might just get you thinking. But please only contribute when you have something half intelligent to say.
Small point.

It is perfectly rational to believe in a deity. Might not be true (although I believe it is) but it's rational.

My heart goes out to you folks. I did not become a Christian until I was 35. I wasn't raised a Christian at all - in fact the opposite. However, God did grace me with a friend whom taught me that the one unforgivable sin is to be sacreligious, and he explained it. I went through my teens and young adult life NEVER condoning another persons beliefs. Thank God for that!

I can tell you that I personally have a full understanding that there is in fact a God; the God! Jesus Christ was the Son of God, lived and died on the cross for our sins and now remains our only way to enter Heaven and eternal life.

I am not a preacher, and in fact not a great example of a Christian man either - but this I do know, without a doubt of disbelief in my heart and soul; there is a God and He loves you!

All you need to do to find God is ask him into your heart. Say a small silent prayer - ask God to reveal himself to you and He will - I promise! You have your doubts and rightfully so; but the process is very simple. Pray right now, close your eyes and take a few seconds....

......"God if you are there, please help me and guide me. Show me that you exist by coming into my life. I pray Lord, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen"

We cannot be saved by our good works......
........ I'm a good person, or I do this or that. We are all sinners and no one can enter the Kingdom of God by their good works! So, you see, Christians aren't perfect, nobody can be by design. We are all sinners against God and no one can be perfect, it is impossible!
You can only be saved by grace of God - His love for us is so great that he gave His only Son for our grace.

I'm now saying a prayer for you....... "Dear God, I pray that the reader of this message will take on an understanding of you oh Lord, Please show yourself to the readers, allow them to understand your existence and Love - in the name of Jesus, Amen"

God Bless You!
This seems like a sick little role playing game.

My only advice to you is, don't ever tell this to your church. From your story, you owe them well over a $100,000. Don't be surprised if they pass you the plate twice on Sundays.

Damn you! Beat me to it!

I was just going to post that the minute Robinsin starts drawing circles and talking about "being paid to shop", this thread is closed!

As for the OP, I could say all of those words but replace 'God' with 'Zeus' or 'Ixtapoloticetl' and it'd be the same thing.

Is it rational to believe that when I turn the lamp on, little faries carry electricty through the wires on their backs?

Is it rational to believe that a man I cannot see, hear or touch is actually responsible for everything good that happens to me?
